I’m Jerry, the owner of JerryIhejirika.com and I’m looking forward to getting a new job that would challenge me and help develop my skills set. I have over five years of experience in blogging, social media marketing, content writing, content marketing, search engine optimisation, and email marketing. I created my first blog in 2008 to promote an online network marketing company I joined at the time and I strategically combined it with forum marketing. It was a great success as I built one of the biggest global team in the company at the time – The FortuneBuilders ITG Team.
I started my professional career in 2002 as a sales and marketing representative in my dad’s import and general merchandising company (Ginax International Enterprises) at Idumota, Lagos Island. I was just out of secondary school at the time and was still interested in furthering my academic career. In 2005, I became the branch manager at Idumota when the head office was moved to the Tradefair Complex in Lagos
In 2008, I gained admission to pursue a bachelor’s degree in project management technology at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). During my schooling at FUTO, I observed there was a low-level of awareness and lack of best practice of the project management profession in Africa. This led me to creating www.jerryihejirika.com in 2013 and ever since then, I’ve been using the blog in some meaningful ways to help create more awareness and promote the best practice of project management in Africa and around the world. I graduated in 2014.
I have been interviewed by some professionals around the world such as Dan Schawbel (A columnist at FORBES, a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author), Elizabeth Harrin (Founder of The Otobos Group), and Margaret Meloni (President of Meloni Coaching Solutions). Some of my insightful articles on project management have also been featured on top blogs such as A Girl’s Guide to Project Management, PM World Library, The Fast Track, and the IIL blog. And I’ve even received some recognition for my online efforts and activities as regarding the project management profession.
In 2016, I created some online courses to share some of my ideas with the world. And although my courses are no longer open for new enrolments, I gained some knowledge and experience on how to plan, create, promote, sell and manage an online course.
However, in early 2017, I made a decision to switch my career to the corporate world, to take up a new challenge and grow my skills set. I am focusing my job search on a few selected companies in Nigeria that understand the value of technology, social media, and project management.
